Does the journal article have to be from an open access journal?
Although we do encourage you to have your paper published with an online open access publisher, we do accept closed access journal publications. This will however limit what you can add to your pubcast. Since closed access publications have restrictions on republishing the article, we cannot put the full article with all the figures up on SciVee. We can provide a link to the original article, which we automatically do for all pubcasts, but you will not be able to synchronize the video to your paper like the open access journals. You will also not be able to synchronize the figures from the publication, since they too are under the copyright of the closed access journal that they are published.
For all these reasons, along with the open dissemination of science, we highly suggest everyone to publish your next paper in an open access journal. For a listing of open access journals, see: PubMed Central. To learn more about open access publishing link to the PLoS (Public Library of Science) Open Access Information.
