I want to create a pubcast, but the paper is currently in press. Should I wait until the paper comes out before starting anything?
You have a few options to choose from on how you want to handle this. Assuming your video is completely prepared and ready to show online, you can then choose to do one of the following:
- Wait for the day that the paper is published. Once your paper is published, a DOI (digital object identifier) will be created and you will be able to upload the paper along with your video to create a pubcast at that point.
- If for some reason you get your DOI sooner, you can upload a video but choose the unpublished option by checking the box provided on the first page of video uploads. In the video description area, you can post all the relevant information (date, citation, abstract, DOI) and we can then upgrade your video to a pubcast on the date it is published and post it live for you. Is your paper from an open access journal? If it is, at that point you will be able to synch up the figures and highlight text in the paper to create a full-fledged pubcast.
- You can publish your video now, if it does not violate any of the agreements you made with the publisher. Be careful on this, it can be good to build hype about your by posting a video about it beforehand. This can be great for your paper’s upcoming visibility. If you want you can do this and SciVee will upgrade your video to a pubcast on date it is published, but please notify the production team at support@scivee.tv of your plans including the date, citation, abstract, and DOI if you have it.
Pubcasts get quite a bit more hits than videos, so it is better for your publication's visibility all around.
