Here is an overview of the basic steps to making a SciVee pubcast:

1) Link your paper information using the PubMed ID or DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
If you don't know the ID number of your paper, you can find out how to get it in our help page on "How do I find the PubMed ID for my paper?" or get help from the publication's website where your paper is published online. After attaining your paper number, simply type it into the space provided at the bottom of the upload page to begin.

2) Upload a video or audio about your publication.
We recommend that your video be approximately 10 minutes and 100 MB or under, but we can accept videos up to 512 MB. (Need help on editing your video? See our tutorials on using Movie Maker or iMovie.) Your video or audio presentation should briefly introduce your paper and discuss the highlights of your results plus any points that would illuminate the more difficult concepts in the article. (Need tips on what to record in the video for your pubcast? Click here for a simple outline.)

3) Synchronize your video or audio with figures or text from the paper.
Once you have linked your paper and uploaded your video, you will be directed to a page where you can do what we call "synchronizing" your paper to your video. The "synchronization tool" we created allows you to highlight text or figures from your paper at specific points in the timeline of your video. We record your highlights as you make them with our synchronizing tool. The idea is that the viewer will have a more enriched experience of their review of your paper when highlighted figures or text appear as the video or audio plays. After you save all your highlighted selections, you can review and go back and make any necessary adjustments before submitting your SciVee pubcast. For step by step instructions on synchronizing your pubcast see the help topic at: http://www.scivee.tv/help/view/154

4) Review your SciVee pubcast and let your co-authors know.

Once you have the paper and video synchronized how you like, you can send your co-authors a link to review the pubcast you created. If you want to wait to hear from your co-authors before you publish your pubcast live, you simply choose "Save and Send a Link to Co-Authors." You will be able to log in and it will appear in a listing on the upload page under "Current Projects". Once you know you would like to publish your pubcast you can link to you project and choose "Save and Publish." you can publish the video and it will become available on SciVee immediately.
